Back Home is the eighth studio album and ninth album overall by Irish boy band Westlife and it was released on 5 November 2007. The album contains a collection of brand new tracks along with a few covers.
The tracklisting for the album was released on the band's official website on the 3 October, 2007. In Japan, they added 2 songs on the original tracklisting.[1] In Denmark, 9 tracks were only released. The release date of the album was brought forward to 5 November, 2007 from the initial 12 November, 2007. The Album has sold 5 million Worldwide
The album debuted at #1 on the Official UK Album Charts selling 132 000 copies in its first week of release and remained in the top three spots for 8 consecutive weeks. It was also the fifth best selling album in the UK for 2007 with 854 344.
The first single from the album is a cover of the ballad "Home", originally by Michael Bublé, and was released on 29 October, 2007 The song debuted at #3 on the official UK singles chart. "Us Against The World", an original song dedicated to Westlife fans worldwide, was released as the band's second single on 3 March in the UK and Ireland. Meanwhile, "Something Right", which is an original up-tempo song, will be released as the second single in Asia and Europe. The song has also been released as a digital download in Ireland. "When I'm With You", an R&B oriented song, charted on an Indonesian radio station although it was not a single. Other cover songs on the album are "Have You Ever", a Diane Warren penned ballad previously recorded by Brandy. "All I Ask Of You", an opera by Sarah Brightman and Michael Ball was scratched while "I'm Already There" by Lonestar was included instead.
Back Home was released on Australia during their four-day promotional visit last April 25-29 of 2008. The said album is accompanied with the Greatest Hits DVD. It peaked at #14.
